Little Candy is a special “box packing event”, which puts dancing and the joy of surprise in its centre. The performance shows to the small ones that not the price or the size of the present is important, rather the act of giving. The present forms a special relationship between the person who gives it and the person who receives it. The act of giving is important and not only material things but an experience can be given as well.
In this performance, Rita Góbi draws the attention to the act of giving, the dance as an experience, as well as to the importance of small wonders, while everybody moves together and experiences the hidden treasures of this show together.
“Captivated by her eyes, the children immediately fell under the spell of Rita Góbi, who is also experienced in dance pedagogy… The value of her performance is best demonstrated by the wide and honest critical acclaim it has received. She has successfully found the way to talk about the joy and importance of dancing to the children audience, whose sensibility and openness should stand as an example for older generations as well.”
(Ákos Török In. Fidelio, translated by Anna Barbara Nagy)
“While she was pulling toys and then finally herself out from the gift box, even her smallest gestures won the devoted and speechless attention of the audience without needing to say anything.”
(Anikó Juhász In. PR Herald, translated by Anna Barbara Nagy)
The production was previously performed at such festivals as: Aufgetischt Festival (Switzerland), KaravanAct Festival (Romania), Kannon Dance Festival (Russia), Festival TeatrOltre (Italy), Linotip Choreographic Center (Romania) and various festivals in Hungary, like Ozora-, Bánkitó-, Hungarian Dance Festival. Little Candy is a beloved performance in Theatres for Children; in 2018 the production was also shown at ASSITEJ Biennale at Kaposvár.
